FESTIVAL OF TABLE GRAPES
August 29th
The festival is aimed, in the intentions of the organizers, to enhance the winemakers of the area and their hard work in the vineyards.
But it is also a manifestation of attraction for the many tourists who crowd the beaches of Castellaneta Marina in August.
The grapes are exposed, together with other local products, in stands set up in the Public Park, thus making a good promotion for a Region, such as Puglia, which produces one third of the national grapes.
CRISPIANO (TA)
FAGATINO’S FESTIVAL
July 19th-23rd
This festival is called “carnival” festival because the party is organized as if it were at Carnival with lots of allegorical floats and masked groups.
There are two parades and representations of the countryside and of Tuscany participate, as well as those of Lucania.
There is no lack of entertainment, outdoor games, theatrical performances and dances in the squares in the town squares and streets.

SAGRA DI S. GIUSEPPE OR DELLE MATTRE

Tradition is very ancient; after the Mass for St. Joseph, which is celebrated here a few days before the liturgical date, there is the preparation of the “mattre”, tables set up on the street or in the square and on which each of God’s dishes is put in the kitchen typical local: homemade pasta and topped with meatballs with tomato sauce, meat pans, vegetables, fruit, bread, wine, cartiddati, and other desserts especially made with almond.
GROTTAGLIE (TA)
GRAPE OF GRAPE
22-24 August
The festival of grapes, just for the joy it gives, is characterized by the exposure in dozens of black and white table grapes.
The festival is a further opportunity to make known the art of Grottaglie and the shops where the artisans make it.
The party is enriched with dances of folk groups, bands and fireworks.
LATERZA (TA)
PEPERONCINO SAGRA
1st decade of September
The first edition of the festival saw the light in 1999 and immediately became fiery; not only for the chili, but for the good organization and for the dishes proposed.
The place chosen for the party is very suggestive: a clearing of the pinewood in the locality of “Scivolizzo”, where dishes with chili pepper, grilled sausages, bread, focaccia, and good wine have been made; moreover the party is enlivened by folk music, mazurkas and waltzes.
MANDURIA (TA)
WINE FESTIVAL
Full month of August
Manduria, a land of red and robust wines, has been organizing for many years, for the entire month of August, evenings of good music, guided tours of the city and archaeological sites, and of course food festivals, which are then the good occasion to taste the local wines, such as the Byzantine red of Salento or the rosé, without neglecting the primitives, who are getting the applause of important wine magazines.
On the 16th of August, at the “ti li pizzarieddi” festival, home made pasta molded with a quadrangular “ferretto” called frizzulu, is served with fresh tomato sauce and cacioricotta or marzotica ricotta.
During the festival, in the trattorias of Manduria you can taste other dishes of the local culinary tradition, all with free tasting of the local wines of Manduria.
MARTINA FRANCA (TA)
FESTIVAL OF THE EARS
July 12th
A group of agro-food producers, together with many volunteers, offer an evening of good taste thanks to an exhibition of typical local products, set up in the cloister of the church of S. Domenico: cheeses, wines, oils, vegetables, fruit, fruit , bread, griselle and, last but not least, orecchiette.
For the preparation of the latter are committed ladies gaps: three hundred portions seasoned with fresh tomatoes, basil and a lot of marzotica ricotta, served not in plastic dishes, but in terrines, which give a whole other flavor, accompanied by white wines of Martina.
MOTTOLA (TA)
MEAT SUGAR
2nd Sunday of August
The festival is included in the “Festival delle Gravine”, which every year attracts hundreds of visitors attracted by equestrian games, theater and musical performances, and the games of street artists.
Another reason for interest are the guided tours of the “Petruscio” ravine; what’s more, there’s the Meat Festival, another festive occasion for the goodness of the gastronomic proposals that are not only the roasts of good local meats, but also the bread, cheese, dairy products, vegetables and wine produced by the local social winery.
PALAGIANO (TA)
SAGRA DEL MANDARINO
November 27-28
At the mandarin festival, food stands stand out, real cornucopias of mandarins, other citrus fruits and liqueurs, sweets, jams, drinks, candied fruit and dishes prepared with the same.
Parade through the main streets of the carriages set up with citrus fruits, escorted by the flag bearers of Oria and Carovigno, band concert, Holy Mass, folk performances of “street artists”.

FAGUE OF THE RED FAITH

In addition to the many portions of watermelon, the festival is an opportunity to learn about all local products: from the oil with which they are seasoned bruschetta, wine, olives and vegetables.
